Testimonials

Stories and reflections from athletes and coaches who’ve trained with Aimee.

ROD DIXON

I have had the pleasure of working with Aimee Elliott and getting to know her through my KiDSMARATHON programme. I have found Aimee to be extremely passionate and dedicated with her coaching, and in her drive to facilitate an 8-10 week KiDSMARATHON programme in her own community in the Central Plateau region.

With Aimee’s extensive levels 2 and 3 Lydiard coaching training and accreditation, as well as her 25 years of teaching and coaching experience in schools, she is the perfect facilitator for the KiDSMARATHON in the North Island and Central Plateau region; and I know is a very knowledgeable running coach.

Aimee is extremely passionate about her own running, and getting people of all ages and abilities up and running, for fitness, mental and physical health, and for their enjoyment. I have been impressed with the run series that Aimee started up recently which has gone from strength to strength in her community.

If you would like a running coach who thinks of her athletes in a holistic way, and really takes the time to get to know where you’re at, your goals and aspirations. A coach who considers your other work, family, and life commitments, and provides 1-1 individualized running programmes to get you to your PEAK performance; then Aimee is your go-to for coaching. She understands the science behind running and wants the very best for each and every athlete she coaches.

I can’t recommend Aimee enough, and I am excited about what the future holds with her input into the KiDSMARATHON programmes within our North Island, and with her running coaching business.

ALLISON ROE

Aimee Elliott is the niece-in-law of my personal marathon coach Gary Elliott who was instrumental in my establishing a world’s best time at the NewYork City marathon in 1981.

Aimee is NZ’s leading light in establishing locally what is the totally transformative Rod Dixon inspired international KIDSMARATHON, an 8 to 10 week in-school running program where children complete a marathon broken into achievable 1 to 5 k community fun runs.

Aimee with her highly accomplished school teaching, administrative, marketing and coaching skills is carving out a new career path as she recognizes that the world today urgently requires children’s attention on connecting with each other and the great outdoors through healthy activity; running naturally forms the fitness basis of almost every sport. Aimee has worked diligently to unite schools and communities through NZ’s running legacy to inspire children of all abilities to experience the joy and health benefits of being physically fit. As a graduate of Lorraine Moller’s international coaching certification Aimee is well equipped.

Aimee is a self-starter and has backed herself in her first year with KIDSMARATHON using her wide skills as administrator/coach/marketer in the Taupo area working closely with three local schools and 120 students from age 10 to 13, running, walking and tracking mileage for 8 to 10 weeks with once fortnightly family fitness run sessions. Aimee has engaged local businesses for prizes and service and completed an exemplary job towards her goal of becoming the overall KIDSMARATHON administrator.

We are blessed to have Aimee’s expertise, consciousness and love for sport and community, given graciously to help establish what is an international KIDMARATHON programme in New Zealand.

Aimee has been wonderful in helping my daughter, who competes in the New Zealand STEP gymnastics programme. By focusing on her running technique, particularly for vault, Aimee has given her the tools to be more powerful and efficient, which has made a real difference to her confidence and performance. We’ve been so appreciative of Aimee’s supportive and knowledgeable approach.

Aimee was great to work with. She helped me gain fitness, and was realistic with goals.

Running Clinic and 1-1 Running Technique Sessions

I was recommended for Aimee’s coaching and have never regretted that recommendation. I have found her caring, knowledgeable and always supportive. I have trained personally and through her evening classes and got something from both. I feel my running technique and confidence has grown whilst I have benefitted from running in groups I have met through the classes.

Working with Aimee has been extremely helpful in assisting me to achieve my running goals. Aimee is professional in her approach and a source of motivation and knowledge.

The group coaching program we attended at the beginning of winter was informative & fun. It’s fantastic to have a group of like minded people training, sharing and connecting together.

I love to learn about running, fueling, strength & all things that go with it, but also meet like minded people as I feel like the running community is a special one. There is always information to take on board. I really enjoyed being a part of this clinic and looking forward to more in the future. Also very motivating.

BESPOKE Running Coaching

Training for my first 50km ultra felt daunting, but working with Aimee made the experience less scary. Aimee’s understanding of endurance training was matched with her incredible flexibility. Whether I was juggling work commitments or family life activities and events, Aimee adapted the plan to keep me progressing without pressure. Thanks to Aimee’s support, I not only completed the ultra and felt strong and confident throughout. I couldn’t have asked for someone better to guide me through this journey. Thanks, Aimee!

Starting with zero running skills, I was unsure how to approach running in a way that would lead to real progress. Aimee’s personalized coaching approach has made setting realistic goals and improving my technique feel achievable every step of the way. With Aimee’s consistent encouragement, expert guidance, and genuine enthusiasm, each session is both challenging and rewarding. My motivation, and strength as a runner have grown more than I thought possible. I highly recommend Aimee to anyone—especially those just starting out or returning to running.

Aimee’s extensive knowledge of running, her unwavering dedication, and her genuine passion for supporting others on their running journeys truly is what sets her apart from others.
Her sincere desire to help runners achieve their goals distinguishes her in the coaching community – I love the work that she is doing with our tamariki in the Taupo community.

With Aimee as my coach, it has been different to previous experiences. Her steadfast belief in my abilities has quietly encouraged me to push beyond what I thought was possible. She respects my individuality, understands my reserved nature, and thoughtfully adapts my training plan as needed, always maintaining a realistic approach.
With limited time, I made the bold decision to enter a backyard ultra – an ambitious choice made in a moment of ‘madness’. I set both a realistic goal and a more challenging one, which I doubted I could achieve with only a three month buildup. This achievement has reignited my passion for running – thank you, Aimee.
While I’m currently taking a break from coaching, I plan to ramp up my training again in September or October to pursue a new running goal that presently feels like a daunting mountain. Yet with Aimee’s mentorship, I am confident I will reach the summit.

Aimee has a wealth of knowledge on all things running! I thoroughly enjoyed working with her both from a programming point of view and the fortnightly in person coaching sessions and check-ins.

Working with Aimee has completely changed my running journey. Before her coaching, I felt stuck and unsure how to improve—but since following her advice, I’ve hit multiple personal records and feel stronger than ever. I’m now feeling more confident and better prepared than I’ve ever been as I gear up for my next big goal: the Queenstown Marathon. I honestly couldn’t have made this progress without her support and guidance!

Thank you so much for your support and flexibility fitting around my hectic schedule. Your help and direction got me through. Training and consistency is what got me across that finish line. Thanks so much Aimee Elliott

I recently completed the 10km race at the 2025 Wellington Marathon; my first time in over ten years being able to run this distance. Aimee’s coaching was integral for me: both the running plan (including catchups online and checking in with me over those weeks), and cheering me on from Taupo. I look forward to continuing to work with Aimee to better my 10km time and work towards additional goals.

Central Plateau KiDSMARATHON Programme

Aimee was great to work with and put a huge amount of enthusiasm and effort into getting our students involved in the kids marathon. The students really enjoyed taking part in the programme and the race day. Aimee was very appreciative of our support in the programme and it was a pleasure to work with her to make her vision come to life.
